Bath time is a favorite part of most childrenâs days, when they may splash around, play, and have fun. But for one Illinois family, a harmless bath toy almost cost their little son his sight, resulting in a horrific ordeal that has left them desperate to warn other parents.
Eden Strong was giving her 2-year-old son Baylor his normal bath when she noticed his eye was inflamed.
She didnât think much of it as a result of having water in his eye. However, after 12 hours, Baylorâs condition deteriorated significantly.
âHis eye was protruding from his face,â Eden recounted in a viral Facebook post. âIt was very obscured. He was running a raging fever.â
Baylor was suffering from a potentially serious bacterial skin illness known as cellulitis. Who is to blame? A normal squeezable bath toy.
âI came to find out later that because the water is never fully expelled from those types of toys, they can just grow bacteria that you canât stop,â Eden explained.
Those innocent-looking bath toys that toddlers adore had become a breeding ground for hazardous bacteria, and it almost cost little Baylor his sight.
